Books the TPG Staff is Grateful For!

Where would we be without our books? is a tough question, and not just because we work for Tor. Before we were workers in publishing, we were people who enjoyed books, and we’re still that. We always will be.

In spirit of the season, here’s some of the books that Tor staff are thankful for this year.

This year I am thankful for T. Kingfisher and the universe she’s created. Her worlds include demon chickens, girls who are toads, and evil sorceress mothers. Her books are so comforting–lovely, fun, heartwarming, and (my fave) scary.
Jordan Hanley, Senior Marketing Manager (she/her)

Chuck Tingle, World’s Greatest Author, tells us every day that Love is Real and Camp Damascus proves that sentiment, showing that even in the darkest, most nightmarish places, the power of love and true joy can guide us home.

Rachel Taylor, Senior Marketing Manager (she/her)

This year I am thankful for The West Passage, a glorious explosion of imagination that blew my mind wide open. If you’re looking for an utterly original reading experience that includes giant, man-eating ladies, eldritch horrors, and a crumbling castle that is really more like a city, then look no further. And did I mention that this book has illustrations? Beautiful, medieval-style illustrations? Brilliant.

Oh, to read this book for the first time again. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue left me deeply moved. This utterly romantic tale follows a fiercely independent village girl, and the sacrifices she’ll make for that freedom.

Tiana Tolbert, Digital Marketing Manager (she/her)

Beautiful and heart-wrenching writing, with characters that stay with you long after the last page.

Valeria Castorena, Marketing Assistant (she/her)
